Ururangi

What is Ururangi?

Thanks for asking!
Ururangi is Poutama's Creativity Programme.  It runs along side out Literacy and Numeracy programmes.  The best part about Ururangi, is that we get opportunities to learn collaboratively with out peers.  Mrs Lunn is working in Ururangi for this term.  She will be setting us challenges to complete in that time.  Our learning will be integrated with Maths and Inquiry.  Mrs Lunn will be taking workshops on the knowledge and skills we need to complete the challenge, as well as being available for on the spot learning.

Weeks One and Two

The kitchen has been a hive of activity the past couple of weeks.  The children have enjoyed getting back into baking.

We love the smell of freshly baked biscuits here in Poutama!

Week Three

It is wonderful to see so many groups in the kitchen cooking up a storm.  Look at the happy faces of our friends who have been working together to create some delicious snacks.

Each group needs to book the kitchen for the time they wish to cook.  They also need to arrange who is bringing what from home as we don't have all the ingredients at school that they might need.

Week Four

We have a toasted sandwich machine in Poutama.  We are allowed to cook ourselves a toasted sandwich at lunchtime!  We have a few regulars who particularly enjoy having a hot lunch.

Speaking of hot lunches, Madison and Sophia made themselves pizzas for lunch!  Yum!

Week Five

We should start our own cooking channel!  The kitchen has been in hot demand again this week.  The kids have been making some tasty treats.  It is lovely to see groups working together to decide what to make and delegating who will bring each of the ingredients.

Week Six

The ePro 8 kit has been a bit of a hit this week.  Aurora made a lawn mower and the boys are making a fire engine!

Cooking is still a bit hit.  Lots of kids have been taking the opportunity to cook in our fabulous kitchen.

Week Seven

The kitchen has once again been a big hit.  It is so great to see the kids working together to prepare kai to share.

We also have had the Spheros out this week.

Week Eight

Ururangi has been busy this week.  So busy in fact that some of the activities like the Spheros, have migrated into Matariki.

We don't mind at all.  It is great seeing our kids enjoying the opportunity to be creative.
