Hook
Mrs Peck wrote to us asking for help. The art work on display in the office is pretty old and needs replacing. She knew we would be just the right people to do it!
Sure Mrs Peck, we would LOVE to help!
Wonder
There are three main parts to what Mrs Peck wants us to do. We need to find out about famous artists and the techniques they used. We need to learn about the Elements of Art, whatever they might be! Finally we need think about what subjects our art should be about. The office area needs to be a calming space so we need to remember that when we design out artwork.
We took some time out to think about what we already know about art and artists. To be honest, we didn't know much so we had a quick google to find out...

Exploring Famous Artworks:
Today we had a go looking at some famous artworks. We had a think about what Elements of Art the artist used. We also thought about how these artworks made us feel.
We noticed that difference people saw different things in the art. Mrs Lunn told us that art is subjective. We might all think and feel something different about the same piece of art.

Today we had a look at some of the most famous artists from around the world. We spend some time looking at each of the slideshows and then we chose the artist whose work appealed to us the most to conduct an artist study on.

Exploring Elements of Art:
Mrs Peck wanted us to find out about the Elements of Art. We conducted research into what the Elements of Art actually are. The teachers found a slideshow that had lots of great information to help us.
Reflect
Mid Inquiry Reflection:
It’s always a good idea to stop for a few minutes and reflect on what you have learnt and what you still need to learn in an Inquiry. Today we sat down together and completed our Reflect Organiser. It showed us that there is still a large amount of learning to be done.
The teachers have kindly said that they will take some workshops on the art techniques that we need to learn, next week. We also came up with the Success Criteria for out artwork.
We co-construct our Success Criteria, so that we ALL know what is expected of us.

Line and Shading:
With Mrs Lunn we learnt about line and shading. We investigated different ways to shade part of a drawing in. We learn about stippling and cross-hatching to name a few. We also learnt how to make objects appear 3D. Check out our work and see if you can figure out what we did to make our shapes look like they are three dimensional.
We had a go at a few drawing techniques. We learnt how to draw a continuous line drawing, a blind drawing and a gesture drawing.
Act
Finally it was time to take all we had learned and create our own masterpiece.
Once all the pieces were finished we sent them over to Mrs Peck to choose which ones she liked.
