Today with Mrs Ruawai, some of us watched a video on what life was like in the trenches during the war. She then read us a real letter written from a solider in World War One, explaining to his family what life was like.
Here is the letter from a real solider.
We used his letter and the video, as inspiration to write our own letters pretending we were in the trenches.
Have a read... PS you night need tissues. These are really sad ...
GET DOWN!!! Came a shout from the other side of the trench,I lay down in the cold slushy mud and stared up at the sea of bullets flying overhead.I clench my eyes shut as the machine gun let out I wild bang as it sent bombs the size of barrels hurtling through the sky. I peered my head over the sandbag wall and aimed my gun at the enemy's shelter.I place my hand steadily on the trigger,I took a deep breath and swiftly pulled the trigger back and sent a single bullet launching across the blood stained battlefield the bullet suddenly paused in the chest of a German soldier. “WE LOST ONE” called out another German. I suddenly felt a ping of guilt, but I pushed it away and aimed my gun at another soldier.

Well done kids. Writing from a different perspective is a tough thing to do but you nailed these letters!
I LOVE doing that sort of stuff
