Operation: River Crossing

Our problems solving theme moved into Writing too. We had to watch this video and try and solve the problem. We drew tree diagrams showing what all the different options could be.

Then we could choose what to write:

Either an Explanation of how we solved the problem

Or

A Narrative of the story of the wildfire and the animals.

Here are a few pieces of our writing we would like to share with you:

It was the middle of Africa. The day was the hottest of the year. Hotter than I've ever felt before. It was much hotter than you could ever imagine and my fur was not making it easier to cool down.

I was sitting in the shad when a stampede of animals came running past. I didn't know what was happening then all of a sudden my mum came running past picking me up in her jaw. I was so terrified to look back.I thought to myself what if it was a hunter or even worse, what if it was a hunter and his wife looking for food?

I finally built up the core strength to look back.I was horrified to see that there was a wildfire! The trees were infested with fire. The trees were dropping like bullets. The fire was glistening. It was both terrifying and beautiful. I watched as the fire tore my house down. My father could tell I was scared. He told me not to look back as he knew I was getting more and more heartbroken at the scene. I felt my tears pouring down my face…
